The course of study

What does our world consist of? What holds them together at heart? How did the universe come into being? What are the foundations of our modern technical world? Are you curious? Do you enjoy tricky problems and the necessary stamina? Then the Bachelor's degree in Physics is a perfect choice for you! Modern physics has decisively shaped our worldview. It is the basis of all engineering and natural sciences and many technological developments are unthinkable without an understanding of the physical connections. The Bachelor's programme in Physics offers a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of physics and thus opens up access to current research directions such as elementary particle physics, astroparticle physics, quantum optics or solid state physics.

5 reasons to study physics in Siegen

✓ Excellent support ratio

✓ Individual support

✓ Early close contact with the lecturers

✓ World-leading research in many areas

✓ Low cost of living and attractive leisure opportunities in the surrounding area

Career prospects

The professional opportunities for physicists are very wide: Physics alumni are in great demand on the job market and in the field of physics there is in principle full employment. Astronaut Alexander Gerst, former Chancellor Angela Merkel and television science presenter Ranga Yogeshwar are just three prominent examples of the diverse jobs performed by physicists. The number of fields of activity is constantly growing.

This is what Anastasia Boushmelev says about her degree program:

“ You can quickly find answers even to tricky questions.”

I decided to study physics at the University of Siegen in 2017 because both the supervision ratio and the wide range of research topics in theory convinced me. Here you can reach out to all professors, lecturers, doctoral students, etc. at any time and find answers even to tricky questions. They know each other and, in addition to their scientific know-how, also receive support on topics such as stays abroad, internships and their careers after graduation. I especially liked the fact that I got an overview of physics in my bachelor's degree, but also that I started studying physics as early as the 3rd grade. Semester could specialize with the help of electives in my current field of expertise.

Admission requirements

The B.Sc. Physics begins in the winter and summer semesters.
