The course of study
The Bachelor's degree programme in Architecture at the University of Siegen equips students with the repertoire of related knowledge that enables them to cope with the requirements of structural complexity. By integrating concrete design and construction tasks into the course of studies (developed in consultation and cooperation with potential regional and supra-regional partners), pragmatic work is promoted, whereby solutions must be discussed and questioned in accordance with applicable guidelines and regulations, as well as the realization that concrete architecture is much more than a mere functional assignment. In its implementation, this means practice-oriented, research-based planning in the context of an appropriate aesthetic consideration of the design task as an inherent dimension of planning.
5 reasons to study architecture in Siegen
✓ Family atmosphere, close association of teachers and students
✓ Creative working environment for workshops and design studios, promotion of collaborative work
✓ International exchange on projects abroad and/or promotion of stays abroad
✓ Close connection with regional architecture and planning practice
✓ An established structure of a 6-semester Bachelor's degree programme with an up-to-date 4-semester Master's degree programme
Career prospects
Graduates can already take on planning activities in architecture or engineering offices, in public and private institutions with their bachelor's degree. The need is shown by a number of calls for tenders, which are specifically looking for this group of people with the appropriate qualifications. The areas of responsibility are very diverse, from the support of the planning processes in representation, construction measurement and drawing, the execution planning to the co-supervision in construction management and billing. After a few years in practice, some find their way back to the university to further qualify accordingly.
