The course of study
In the Master's programme in Culture, History and Society, you will gain your own understanding of the connection between culture and society.
The Master addresses graduates of the participating disciplines English Studies, Architectural History, Evangelical Theology, German Studies, History, Catholic Theology, Art History, Media Studies, Musicology, Philosophy, Romance Studies and Social Sciences in order to bring them into a cultural-scientific discourse and to enable diverse methodological approaches of the participating disciplines.
The interdisciplinary approach, which addresses different times, philosophical, media-scientific, religious, social-scientific or linguistic concepts, conflicts and developments, is studied in a question-oriented manner, so that an individual focus is possible.

Career prospects
As a graduate of the M.A. Culture, History, Society, you have developed a variety of scientific competencies that qualify for various professional fields. Among other things, for fields of work in publishing houses, politics, media or foundations, international relations, social movements and in particular all areas of intercultural communication.
The degree also basically prepares you for a doctorate.

- Bachelor's degree from a degree programme/a combination of the following disciplines: English Studies, History of Architecture, Evangelical Theology, German Studies, History, Catholic Theology, Art History, Media Studies, Musicology, Philosophy, Romance Studies and Social Sciences or
- a first professional university degree in a comparable course of study.

Study organisation
Subject examination regulations including course plans and module descriptions
Framework examination regulations (RPO-M) and the general subject-specific regulations of the subject examination regulations (PHIL-FPO-M) define the general framework conditions for studying in Siegen and at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
In addition, subject examination regulations of the individual (sub-)courses (FPOs) determine the basic structures of a (sub-)course (e.g. entry requirements and content to be studied). The subject examination regulations are accompanied by course plans, which represent the recommended exemplary course of study in the individual subjects, as well as module descriptions (content information on modules).
For students, the current version of an FPO automatically applies when enrolling in the first semester.
