The course of study
Civil engineering has hitherto been strongly influenced by the planning, construction and erection of buildings and infrastructure. However, the training requirements today and in the future go far beyond this technical point of view.
Additional ecological and economic decision-making parameters require a corresponding qualification among the graduates. Integral components of the Master's programme are therefore the construction and real estate industry as well as environmental technology and building conservation. The necessary integral ways of thinking and the link with the specialist disciplines are taught; The MA programme is therefore highly interdisciplinary.

For my master's degree, I deliberately chose the University of Siegen, as Siegen, Germany's greenest city, offers the ideal balance to everyday university life. Here, university, apartment, sports and leisure facilities are located directly next to each other, which creates an optimal basis for a successful study. Recognizing today that I made the right choice is not only due to the optimal mentoring relationship between teachers and students. The proximity to the teachers also allows the students to think outside the box. The large selection of possible modules and coursework gives your studies an individual stamp. It is not only the academic environment that contributes to a successful course of study. For me, it was also the personal experiences on campus, away from the lecture hall. Studying does not have to be an isolated individual fight and those who want to get involved here will certainly meet like-minded people. Last but not least, the University of Siegen offers a variety of activities and contacts with all the student councils, student initiatives and groups, without which student life would not have been half as much fun. The fun in civil engineering continues for me even today in research and teaching and reinforces my conviction that the decision for the University of Siegen was the right one.
Admission requirements
A bachelor or graduate engineer (also FH) in the field of civil engineering or a related field.

Examination regulations/course plans/module manuals/internship regulations
(Professional) examination regulations (FPOs) define the basic structures of a course of study (e.g. admission requirements and content to be studied). For students, the current version of an FPO automatically applies when enrolling in the first semester. This means that even in the case of changes to the FPO during the course of studies, the original version according to which one has enrolled is valid (provided that this FPO does not expire).
The respective course plan represents the recommended exemplary course of study in the individual subjects and is part of an FPO.
Additional regulations and details for each module to be studied can be found in the module manuals (e.g. prerequisites for taking a written examination or information on the content of the modules/events, ...).
The traineeship regulations define the conditions under which the mandatory or optional traineeships must be completed.
Before the start of the lecture period, we recommend that you at least look at the course schedule of your course of study so that you know which modules are planned for the start of your studies.
