About Unisono (all degree programs that do not require additional registration at university start):

I create an account in the online portal of the University of Siegen (unisono) and fill out the online application. If I have not received approval in the main proceedings, I will automatically take part in any subsequent proceedings that may take place.

About Hochschulstart and Unisono (for all other admission-restricted Bachelor's degree programs):

  • Step 1: Registration with (in addition to www.hochschulstart.de). Within 72 hours I press the activation link and receive my personal BID and BAN.
  • Step 2: With the BID and BAN I create an account in the online portal of the University of Siegen (unisono) and fill out the online application.
  • Step 3: In my user account of hochschulstart I find all my applications participating in the coordination. I'll put them in an order where my favorite comes first (prioritization) by 15 July at the latest.
  • Step 4:
    • Variant A
I will receive in university start until the end of the coordination procedure At least one admission offer. Only one admission offer is ever received.
Important: The low-priority offers are eliminated! As soon as I accept an offer, I will receive an admission and all other applications will be permanently deleted.
Afterwards, I will be provided with an admission notice and I will enrol directly at the university. All further information and deadlines can be found in the notice or at the corresponding university. For applications that have been rejected by the university, I receive rejection notices.
    • Variant B
I do not receive an offer of admission. I will receive a rejection notice and a link per application by e-mail to participate in the coordinated follow-up procedure.
During the coordinated follow-up procedure, the remaining study places will be allocated. If I would like to get another chance to study in the winter semester, I confirm my participation in the postgraduate procedure for this course of study within a period of 72 hours, provided that it participates in the coordinated postgraduate procedure (only if not all places could be allocated at the end of the main procedure).
As soon as I receive an offer of admission in the follow-up procedure, all other applications with which I participate in the follow-up procedure at Hochschulstart will be definitively eliminated (no prioritization is possible here!).
In order to stay informed, I regularly read my e-mails and check my application status in the application portal of Hochschulstart.
  • Prospective students who have not yet taken part in the current procedure can also apply for study offers in the coordinated follow-up procedure, provided that these offers participate in this extra phase. The allocation of study places is done by lot. All participating degree programmes will be published here after completion of the main procedure. This only applies to courses coordinated via Hochschulstart.de.
  • The admission and rejection notices for the application process will only be announced to you in your account. A reference to the provision of the notices will be sent to the e-mail address you provided when registering. A dispatch by post does not take place.

Secondary studies

Here you will find information on the application and admission for admission-restricted courses of study if you have already completed a course of study at a German university (does not affect the transition from Bachelor's to Master's; Consecutive Master's degree).

Applicants who have already completed a course of study at a German university (e.g. with a diploma, bachelor's or master's degree) by the end of the application deadline, and now a Second Bachelor's or Master's degree If you would like to join, you are generally considered to be a second study applicant. By contrast, a master’s degree based on a bachelor’s degree is not a second degree, but a so-called ‘consecutive study’.

In admission-restricted degree programmes, applicants for second degree programmes have 3% of the available study places of a course of study available. These places are not awarded according to average grade and waiting time, as is usually the case, but on the basis of a measurement number. This measurement number is formed from the examination result of the first degree and for the reasons for the second degree.

If you want to apply for a second degree, lead the Online application Please upload the following documents:

  • A copy of the Certificate of Completion and the deed your first degree or preliminary result of the degree,
  • a detailed written justification for your second degree with information about your previous education and professional activity as well as the desired professional goal; This statement of reasons should finally include all aspects that are relevant to your second degree.

Admission to Secondary Studies

The study places are awarded according to a score (measurement number), which is formed from the examination result of the first study and the reasons for the second study. In addition, the same formal admission requirements apply to second-degree applicants as to first-degree applicants.

Final grade of the first degree

The following scores are given for the examination result of the completed first degree:

  • Grades ‘excellent’ and ‘very good’ 4 points
  • Grades ‘good’ and fully ‘satisfactory’ 3 points
  • Score "satisfactory" 2 points
  • Score "sufficient" 1 point
  • Score "not proven" 1 point

The grade with which you completed your first degree must be documented in the diploma or in a certificate issued by the body responsible for issuing the diploma or you must also attach certificates from the examination office (result notifications from the examination office) to the application for admission. Otherwise, the worst performance level must be taken as a basis.

Weighting of the reasons for the second degree

  • Compulsory professional reasons 9 points
  • Scientific reasons 7 to 11 points
  • Special professional reasons 7 points
  • Other professional reasons 4 points
  • Other reasons 1 point

Details on the reasons for a second degree can be found in the guidelines of the Foundation for Higher Education Admission. If you want to re-integrate or re-enter professional life after a family phase, you can receive a supplement of up to 2 points when applying for a second degree. The increase can be considered if, for family reasons (e.g. marriage, child-rearing), the previous professional activity had to be abandoned or, in view of family concerns, the beginning of an adequate professional activity had to be waived after completion of the first degree. The amount of the point surcharge depends on the degree of concern. The extent of the burden (e.g. number of children, duration of the family phase) must be adequately taken into account. There is no cumulation of several reasons; the most favourable case group shall be used. The point surcharge for applicants who have previously postponed their second study programme for family reasons is independent of this; It is additionally granted.

selection

The points for your first degree and for your justification are added to a measurement number. The measurement number is decisive for your ranking on the ranking list of second study applicants. Applicants with a higher number of measurements take precedence over applicants with a lower number of measurements. The rankings between applicants with the same number of measurements are determined with the help of so-called subordinate criteria. First of all, those who have performed a service in full. Then the lot decides. Thus, there is a clear ranking on each ranking list among the second degree applicants who apply for the same degree programme. In this order, it is selected until all study places available for the respective ranking list have been exhausted.

The application

The application is made online via the application portal unisono.

The dates

The same application deadlines apply as for first-year applicants.
