Discover the reasons for the social conditions and their changes in the present and future in the history of Siegen, in which you learn to deal with the past critically and from a scientific perspective.

The degree programme offers you a basic education in history. You will learn about history from antiquity to modern societies. Complex problems are considered with a methodical approach. You can choose specializations according to your own interests, expand your foreign language skills or combine history with other subjects individually.

Through excursions or historical projects, you can already gain practical experience during your studies, which is in demand in a variety of professional fields.

Career prospects

The Bachelor's degree program qualifies through individual specializations as well as combinations to a variety of different professional fields. During your studies, you will be able to understand and present complex relationships in their historical contexts. This means that you are perfectly prepared, for example, for jobs in archives, museums, foundations, politics, publishing houses or in press, radio and publishing houses.

Admission requirements

The B.A. History programme always begins in the winter semester. Requirements for access are the general university entrance qualification, the subject-specific university entrance qualification or the technical college entrance qualification. By the end of the third semester, knowledge of classical Latin at the level of the small Latinum must be proven in the Advanced Core Subject and Core Subject History. Knowledge of two modern foreign languages at level B2 according to CEFR is recommended.
