Ever since I learned to read, I have been fascinated by the world of literature. Books are my passion. After graduating from high school, I therefore decided that English and American literature should form a major part of my studies. During my research for the right degree program, I came across the interdisciplinary bachelor's program LKM.

The Bachelor LKM in English combines literary studies with contemporary media and popular culture. So I was able to acquire a broad overview of Anglophone literature and media and learned to apply cultural theories to these different areas. During my studies, I put my individual emphasis on American literature and culture and also wrote my bachelor thesis in this subject area.

In addition to the versatility and the individual options, the good supervision of the students is another plus point. The lecturers are very helpful and are always available to help with questions/difficulties. From my second semester, I was allowed to work as a student assistant at the chair and was thus able to gain important experience in the academic professional field.

After three exciting years in Siegen, I decided to pursue my Master's degree in American Literature and Culture in Sweden. During my master's degree, I was able to find out again and again that my bachelor's degree at the University of Siegen gave me the best prerequisites to be able to assert myself internationally. For my professional future, I could imagine working in academia or entering publishing.

If you are a literature enthusiast, curious and open to new, exciting approaches, I can warmly recommend the Bachelor LKM.
