Review of the Open University 2024
On Saturday, the 8 June 2024 The Open University took place again from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the Schlossplatz of the Lower Castle in Siegen. Citizens, students and prospective students, alumni and all members of the university were cordially invited – students, researchers and employees gave an insight into their work.
At more than 50 stands and hands-on stations, visitors learned everything that is part of university life and were able to become active themselves. The day was accompanied by a lot of music – from the Uni Big Band to pop and rock bands.
A highlight was the lecture by Mirko Drotschmann (also known as MrWissen2Go) dealing with the subject Struggle for Freedom: Germany's Road to Democracy argued. Drotschmann reported on women and men who risked their lives in the 19th and 20th centuries to ensure that we can live in freedom today, and showed why we should still stand up for our democracy today.
The Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB) organized the information fair as part of the Open University Ready to study. This is aimed specifically at prospective students who would like to get to know the University of Siegen and the study options in more detail.
